09/14/2008 Target Exclusive Hasbro GI Joe Cobra Rattler Jet review
At fist I was a bit bummed Hasbro wasn't releasing toys like this in a vintage type box. I am not always a huge fan of big window boxes like this but it has slowly won me over. The main reason is the incredible backdrop inside. Please note that most of these I saw in stores so far have minimum damage to the windows already. I suspect people are grabbing them out of the cases and off the shelves by the box end where the window folds over causing small creases. I think finding a truly mint box might take some work.
The back of the box is pretty simple but has great visuals.
How cool is this picture on this side of the box? It is the same one from the back but I am not tired of seeing it.
OK, this side is more than a little boring.
And this side isn't much better until...
You change your perspective a bit and see the great battle scene back drop inside the box. There is a ton of stuff going on on it and you will see lots of great GI Joe and Cobra vehicles all over it. There is a couple of wires holding the toy in place but they were easily cut.
The amount of stickers I had to apply was a bit much for me. I am all about applying stickers to my toys over having it done for me but there were a lot to apply in this case. I thought I was going to have to apply for humanitarian assistance about half way through through the process.
You get a standard set of blueprints for the jet and..
And an instruction sheet with all the sticker application points. It was easy enough to follow but still took a long time.
But why are these printed on one side of a piece a paper with the other side being blank? Hasbro, do your part to save a tree - use a piece half the size and print double sided.
You also get a Wild Weasel figure included. It has a pistol and goggles for accessories. As I mentioned earlier, you only get one figure (while I have two pictured with the jet). This figure is identical in every way to the comic book pack version that came out earlier with the exception of this one not coming with a stand. I liked this figure when it came out earlier and still like it. It is a great update of the original figure and the removable goggles are a fun touch. Continue on to page 2 |
